Ingredients
    3/4 c. self-rising cornmeal
    1 c. buttermilk
    1/2 c. milk
    1 egg, well beaten
    1/4 c. sugar
    1 1/2 c. self-rising flour
    1/4 tsp. baking soda
    3 Tbsp. oil or fry 4 slices bacon and use fat
Preparation
    Put oil (or bacon fat) in skillet to preheat.
    Place heavy iron skillet in 400\u00b0 oven to preheat.
    Combine cornmeal and milks. Stir in sugar.
    Add egg and mix well.
    Gently stir in flour and soda (mix together before adding to wet) until moist.
    Stir in crumbled bacon, if desired.
    Bake 20 minutes at 400\u00b0 or until golden brown.
