Fried Onion Rings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Spanish onions
    2 eggs, separated
    1 1/4 c. buttermilk*
    1 1/2 Tbsp. salad oil
    1 1/4 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
Preparation
    Remove skins and slice onions 1/4-inch thick.
    Separate into rings.
    Beat egg yolks.
    Add buttermilk, oil and sifted dry ingredients.
    Beat egg whites until stiff. Fold into buttermilk mixture. Dip onion rings into batter.
    Fry a few at a time in deep fat heated to 375\u00b0.
    Drain thoroughly on paper towels and sprinkle with salt.
    Keep warm in oven.
