Ingredients

3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. molasses
2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar.
Add egg and molasses and beat well.
Sift flour with dry ingredients and add to the shortening mixture and mix well.
Refrigerate the dough for 1 hour.
Shape the dough into 1-inch balls.
Roll each ball into sugar.
Place balls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake in a 375\u00b0 oven for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
These cookies have crackled tops and sugar imparts a slight glaze.
