Gingerbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/3 c. shortening
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. molasses
    1 egg, beaten
    3 c. sifted flour
    4 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. ginger
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1 c. black walnuts
Preparation
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes.
    Cream sugar and shortening.
    Add molasses and beaten eggs.
    Sift together dry ingredients.
    Add to molasses mix alternately with the milk. Add spices and nuts.
    Bake in two shallow pans.
    When cool, put together with applesauce.
