Hush Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 c. flour (self-rising)
2 c. corn meal (plain)
1 tsp. salt
2/3 tsp. baking soda
1 Tbsp. sugar
buttermilk (amount varies depending on fineness of corn meal texture)

Preparation

Sift dry ingredients together.
Add buttermilk until consistency that holds its shape but is not dry.
Drop by spoonfuls into hot deep fat and fry until brown.
