Wheat Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. whole wheat flour
    1 c. all-purpose flour
    1/4 c. wheat germ
    1/4 c. packed brown sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 c. water
    1/4 c. butter, softened
    coarse or table salt
Preparation
    In
    medium
    mixing
    bowl mix flours, wheat germ, sugar, salt and
    soda
    well.
    Stir
    in
    water and butter until smooth dough forms.
    Divide
    in half; cover and let stand at least 10 minutes. Place
    half
    the dough on lightly oiled 17 x 14-inch baking sheet; flatten into 4-inch square.
    Roll out on baking sheet to
    16
    1/2 x 13 1/2-inch rectangle.
    Cut in 1 1/2-inch squares.
    Prick all
    over
    with
    fork;
    brush
    with
    water. Sprinkle with
    coarse salt
    or
    table salt to taste.
    Bake in middle of
    preheated
    400\u00b0 oven
    for
    7 to 8 minutes or until crisp but
    not
    overbrowned. Remove to racks to cool.
    Repeat with remaining dough.
    Makes 198. Squares shrink to just over 1-inch after baking.
