Joan'S Jam Sandwich Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. Crisco
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 egg
    1/2 tsp. almond flavoring
    1 1/2 c. sifted flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    3/4 c. strawberry jam
Preparation
    Blend shortening, sugar, egg, almond flavoring.
    Combine flour, salt, baking powder and add to Crisco mixture.
    Place half of the dough in an 8 inch square pan.
    Cover with the strawberry jam.
    Cut an 8 inch square of waxed paper and pat remaining dough onto it.
    Flip this on top of the jam and peel off the waxed paper.
    Bake at 400\u00b0 for 25-30 minutes.
