Polly Simmons Pound Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sugar
    5 large eggs
    2 tsp. lemon extract
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    3 c. flour, sifted 3 times
    1 1/2 c. milk
    1/2 lb. butter
    8 Tbsp. Crisco
    1 tsp. vanilla
    dash of salt
Preparation
    Sift flour 3 times.
    Add baking powder before you sift the third time.
    In a large bowl, cream the butter, Crisco and salt. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add milk and flour mixture alternately. Add extract. Pour into a greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Cool 5 minutes before removing cake from pan. Cake can be iced with your favorite icing or is delicious plain.
