Ingredients

1 1/2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 Tbsp. vanilla
1 egg
1/3 c. sugar
2 Tbsp. milk
2 Tbsp. shortening
Preparation

Cream shortening, sugar and egg.
Sift together the flour, salt and baking powder.
Add to first mixture.
Add milk.
Mix to a smooth dough.
Turn out on floured surface and roll out 1/2-inch thick.
Cut with doughnut cutter.
Fry in deep, hot fat.
Roll in powdered sugar.
Serve warm.
