Ingredients

1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. shortening
4 eggs (1 at a time)
3 Tbsp. buttermilk
1 tsp. soda to buttermilk
3 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 c. blackberry wine
1 1/2 lb. pecans
1 lb. candied cherries (red)
1 lb. candied pineapple (green)
1 lb. chopped dates
Preparation

Cream sugar and shortening.
Add eggs, mixing thoroughly.
Add milk and soda.
Sift flour, cinnamon and nutmeg with a pinch of salt.
Add to mixture.
Pour in wine; dredge fruits and fold into batter with nuts.
Drop from teaspoon on greased cookie sheet. Bake 15 minutes in 300\u00b0 oven.
