Maple Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. scalded milk
    1/4 c. sugar
    1 yeast in 1/4 c. warm water
    3 1/2 c. flour
    1/4 c. shortening
    1 tsp. salt
    1 egg
Preparation
    Combine milk, shortening, sugar and salt.
    Cool.
    Add yeast, softened in warm water.
    Add egg and flour.
    Let rise for 2 hours. Roll out and cut in bars with knife.
    Let rise until very large and fry in fat (melted Crisco).
    Frost with powdered sugar and maple flavoring.
