Refrigerator Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    14 to 16 thinly sliced cucumbers
    2 c. thinly sliced onions
    4 c. sugar
    1 tsp. turmeric
    1 tsp. celery salt
    1/4 tsp. powdered alum
    2 c. vinegar
    3 Tbsp. salt
Preparation
    Sprinkle salt over cucumbers and onions.
    Let set 3 hours. Mix together remaining ingredients to make syrup.
    Rinse cucumbers, then pour over syrup and store in refrigerator until needed.
    (Do not cook syrup.)
