Pineapple Upside-Down Cake - cooking recipe

6 Tbsp. water
3/4 c. brown sugar, packed
1 can pineapple rings, cut in half
maraschino cherries (optional)
1 1/2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/3 c. softened margarine
2/3 c. milk
1/3 c. reserved pineapple juice
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation

Melt butter in 9 or 10-inch cake pan or cast-iron skillet.
Add sugar and stir until saturated by butter.
Pat evenly on bottom of pan.
Arrange pineapple slices in concentric circles, with a maraschino cherry in alternate \"crescents\" if desired.
