Raised Donuts - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. milk
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg
4 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 pkg. yeast
Preparation

Scald milk and pour over shortening.
Let cool.
Dissolve yeast and 1 teaspoon sugar in 1/2 cup warm water.
Add about 3 1/2 cups of flour (not too stiff a dough).
Let rise an hour or more, stirring down once.
Roll out and cut or twist.
Let rise on board for 30 to 45 minutes.
Fry, top side down.
