Pickled Beets - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. beets
    3 c. vinegar
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    2 c. water
    2 tsp. allspice
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. cloves
    1 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Cook beets until tender.
    Skin and slice.
    Combine rest of ingredients. Bring to a boil and boil 10 minutes.
    Pack beets in sterile jars. Pour boiling syrup to cover.
    Seal.
    Makes about 4 quarts or 8 pints.
