Ingredients

2 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
Preparation

Sift dry ingredients.
Cream butter and sugar.
Add vanilla. Mix well.
Add eggs, one at a time.
Mix well.
Add dry ingredients in fourths, beating after each addition.
Chill dough for 1 hour.
