Festive Tortilla Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 (14 1/2 oz.) cans chicken broth
    1 medium onion, coarsely chopped
    3 carrots, sliced
    2 stalks celery, sliced
    3 medium potatoes, diced
    2 Serrano peppers, seeds removed and diced
    3 cloves garlic, sliced
    1 tsp. garlic powder
    1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
    1/2 tsp. cumin
    salt and pepper to taste
    flour tortillas (12 count)
Preparation
    Begin boiling chicken broth.
    Cut veggies; add to boiling broth.
    Cut tortillas into rough 1-inch squares; set aside.
    Boil 30 to 45 minutes.
    Add spices and tortilla pieces.
    Reduce heat to simmer for 15 minutes longer.
    Serve hot.
