French Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 c. water
    5 Tbsp. sugar
    5 Tbsp. shortening
    4 tsp. salt
    10 c. flour
    4 Tbsp. yeast
    1/2 c. warm water
Preparation
    In a large bowl mix the first 4 ingredients and about 3 cups of
    flour
    to
    make
    a
    thin
    batter (\"sponge\").
    Mix the remainder of
    the
    flour
    with batter and let rise 15 minutes. Knead for
    5
    minutes
    and
    place
    in a greased pan.
    Let rise another 30 minutes.
    Bake at 400\u00b0 for 35 minutes.
