Old Fashion Applesauce Cake(Grandmother Booth'S) - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 c. sugar
1 c. butter
1 tsp. cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg
1/2 tsp. allspice
dash of salt
2 c. thin applesauce (unsweetened)
1 lb. raisins
1 c. black walnuts
2 tsp. Arm & Hammer soda (in apples; beat well until foamy)
3 1/2 c. flour (save 1/2 c. to go in fruit)
1 small jar maraschino cherries, cut in quarters and well drained, reserving juice

Preparation

Mix
ingredients well, plus juice of cherries, plus 1/2 cup liquor
(mix nuts, cherries and raisins with 1/2 cup flour you saved and add to
cake
mixture
last).
Bake
at 325\u00b0 for 1 3/4 hours or until brown or clean to a tester.
