Ingredients

1 c. shortening
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugars until light and fluffy.
Add egg and vanilla; mix well.
Add sifted dry ingredients; stir in nuts. Drop from spoon onto baking sheet.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 to 15 minutes.
Yields 4 dozen.
Can be used as is or ice according to taste.
