Black-Eyed Peas With Bacon - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. black-eyed peas, rinsed and sorted
    1/2 lb. bacon, cooked and crumbled plus additional crumbled bacon (optional)
    1 large onion, chopped
    1 garlic clove, minced
    1 Tbsp. butter
    1/2 tsp. dried thyme
    salt to taste
Preparation
    Place peas, beans and enough water to cover in a large kettle; bring to a boil.
    Boil 2 minutes.
    Remove from heat.
    Cover and let stand 1 hour.
    Do not drain.
