Ingredients

1 1/2 Tbsp. quick cooking tapioca
3/4 c. sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
5 c. thinly sliced apples
pastry for 8-inch pie
2 Tbsp. butter
Preparation

Mix together tapioca, salt, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and apples.
Fill pie shell with apple mixture; dot with butter.
Cut slits in top of crust to permit escape of steam.
Bake in hot oven at 425\u00b0 for 55 minutes or until syrup boils with heavy bubbles that don't burst.
Cool and frost top with thin confectioners sugar icing.
Sprinkle with chopped walnuts.
