Ingredients

1 c. Wesson oil
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs
2 c. plain all-purpose flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. allspice
1/4 tsp. cloves
1 c. buttermilk
1 1/2 c. prunes, cooked and mashed with pits removed
1/2 c. nuts (optional)
Preparation

Cream Wesson oil and sugar.
Add eggs and beat well.
Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with buttermilk and prunes.
(Do not use electric mixer.)
Beat until well blended.
Fold in chopped nuts, if desired.
Pour into 9 x 13-inch cake pan which has been well-greased and floured.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes. Cool and add the Prune Cake Topping.
