Garden Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 green pepper, chopped
    1 medium cabbage, shredded
    1 large carrot (raw), shredded
    3 ribs celery, diced
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. white vinegar
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. celery seed
    1 tsp. mustard seed
    1 Tbsp. salt
Preparation
    Mix vegetables (all but cabbage).
    Boil sugar, white vinegar, 1 teaspoon salt, celery seed and mustard seed; let cool.
    Sprinkle 1 tablespoon salt on shredded cabbage and let stand 1 hour. Squeeze out moisture.
    Package and refrigerate what syrup you don't use for later date (does not call for oil).
