Ingredients

1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. quick oats
1 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg
1/2 c. shortening, softened
1/2 c. coconut
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Combine dry ingredients, sifting together 3 times.
Combine sugar, brown sugar and shortening; mix well.
Add egg and vanilla, stirring to make a smooth batter.
Add sifted flour, salt and baking powder; mix well.
Add oats, nuts and coconut.
The mixture will be stiff.
Shape into balls, 1-inch diameter.
Bake on lightly greased cooking sheet for 12 to 15 minutes at 350\u00b0.
