Congo Squares - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 3/4 c. flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 c. shortening
2 1/4 c. light brown sugar
3 eggs
1 c. broken nutmeats
1 c. chocolate chips
Preparation

Melt shortening; mix in sugar and cool slightly.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating between each.
Add dry ingredients, mixing well.
Add nuts and chips.
Spread batter in a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes or until browned.
Cut while still warm.
Makes 48 squares.
