Creamed Peppered Turnips - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 medium size turnips
    1 tsp. salt
    2 c. milk
    1 1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
Preparation
    Peel the turnips; cut 1/2-inch slices.
    Cover with cold water in a deep pot.
    Add salt; cook briskly for 30 minutes, or until tender.
    Drain the cooking water.
    Pour in the milk.
    Add the pepper; return to heat for 3 to 4 minutes, but do not allow to boil.
