Icebox Dessert - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 large bananas
    2 (No. 2) cans crushed pineapple
    1 1/3 c. sugar
    2/3 c. butter
    1 (8 oz.) pkg. vanilla wafers
    1 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Mash bananas.
    Add pineapple, sugar and butter.
    Crush wafers. Spread 1/2 on bottom of 8 x 13-inch pan.
    Pour pineapple mixture over crumbs.
    Add remaining wafer crumbs.
    Cover with nuts.
    Let chill in refrigerator for at least 3 hours.
    Cut in squares. Garnish with Cool Whip and cherries.
