Cherokee Squaw Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 pt. sour milk
1 Tbsp. shortening
3 tsp. baking powder (heaping)
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
flour
Preparation

Combine
all
ingredients; add enough flour to make the dough easy to handle.
Knead it smooth and roll out until your dough
is about 1/2 inch thick.
Cut this into portions about the size
of a
quart jar lid and make some slits in it.
Now cook
in
deep fat, just like doughnuts.
Delicious with honey when warm!
