Strawberry Cream Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 qt. strawberries
    1 c. sugar
    1 1/3 c. water
    3 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1/2 pt. heavy cream or Cool Whip
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 baked 9-inch pie shell
    few drops red food coloring
Preparation
    Clean and wash berries.
    Simmer 1 cup berries, 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water for 15 minutes.
    Add red food coloring.
    Mix 1/3 cup water with the cornstarch; add to cooked mixture.
    Cook until thick, stirring constantly.
    Cool and add to remaining berries. Whip the cream.
    Add vanilla.
    Pour into baked shell.
    When cool, add whipped topping.
    Chill before serving.
