English Wedding Fruit Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 tsp. cloves
4 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. mace
1 lb. shortening
1 lb. brown sugar
10 eggs, well beaten
1 lb. chopped dates
1 lb. raisins
1 lb. currants
3 lb. mixed candied fruit
1/2 lb. walnuts, chopped
1 c. honey
1 c. molasses
1/2 c. orange juice
Preparation

Cream sugar and shortening.
Sift dry ingredients and set aside.
Mix liquid ingredients and add to creamed mixture, alternating with dry ingredients.
Add beaten eggs; mix well. Combine all chopped fruit and nuts; add to batter.
Mix well! Cook at 250\u00b0 for 4 hours, in pans lined with brown paper, well-greased.
Makes a 10-pound wedding cake.
