Crispy Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    7 lb. cucumbers
    2 c. pickling lime
    12 c. sugar
    2 qt. vinegar
    2 Tbsp. salt
    1 tsp. whole cloves
    1 tsp. celery seed
    1 tsp. mixed whole spice
    2 gal. water
Preparation
    Slice cucumbers and cover with a solution of pickling lime and water.
    Let soak for 24 hours.
    Rinse well and cover with cold, clear water.
    Soak for 3 hours.
    Drain and cover with remaining mixture.
    Soak overnight.
    The next morning, boil pickles in the mixture for 35 minutes.
    Put in jars; these pickles will be nice and crisp.
