Date Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter or margarine, softened
    2 1/3 c. dark brown sugar
    3 eggs
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
    3 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    3 c. pitted dates, coarsely chopped
    1 c. pecans, chopped
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
    Beat in eggs, one at a time.
    Stir in vanilla.
    Combine flour, baking powder and baking soda; gradually add to creamed mixture.
    Stir in dates and nuts.
    Spread batter in a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
    Bake in a preheated 375\u00b0 oven for 45 minutes.
    Cool in pan; cut in bars. Yields approximately 2 dozen bars.
