Lemon Sauce For Cakes - cooking recipe

3/4 c. sugar
2 Tbsp. cornstarch
1/4 tsp. salt
2 c. water
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 tsp. grated lemon rind
3 Tbsp. lemon juice
Preparation

In a saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch and salt.
Gradually stir in water. Stir in egg; cook over moderate heat, stirring constantly, until thickened. Do not boil.
Remove from heat; stir in lemon rind and juice.
