Tamale Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. yellow cornmeal
    1 1/2 c. water
    1 1/4 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 c. evaporated milk
    dash of red pepper
    1 small onion, chopped
    1 Tbsp. fat
    1 lb. ground beef
    1 c. tomatoes
    2 Tbsp. pimentos, chopped
Preparation
    Measure cornmeal, water and salt in a heavy saucepan.
    Boil until mixture begins to thicken, then add milk.
    Continue cooking slowly for 8 to 10 minutes.
    Stir constantly.
    Brown beef in skillet; drain.
    Add onion, tomatoes, pimentos and spices.
    Line a baking dish with 3/4 of the cornmeal mush.
    Pour beef mixture in dish.
    Cover with remaining mush.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 45 minutes.
    Serves 6.
