Never Fail Dill Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. water
    1 c. vinegar
    1/4 c. salt
    1 or 2 dill heads
    1 or 2 garlic buds
    1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper
    1/2 tsp. mustard seed
    1/2 tsp. alum
Preparation
    Put dill heads, garlic buds, crushed red pepper and mustard seed in bottom of 1/2 gallon jar.
    Pack whole cucumbers in jar (not brined).
    Put alum on top of cucumbers.
    Bring water, vinegar and salt to a boil.
    Pour over cucumbers.
    Seal.
    Do not double recipe.
