Blackberry Jam Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening or butter
    1 c. brown sugar
    1 c. white sugar
    4 eggs
    2 tsp. soda
    2 c. buttermilk
    4 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. allspice
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 pt. blackberry jam or preserves
Preparation
    Cream shortening, sugar and
    eggs.
    Add soda to buttermilk. Add
    sifted
    dry ingredients and buttermilk alternately to creamed mixture.
    Mix in jam.
    Pour into three 8-inch layer pans.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 about 25 minutes.
