Ingredients

3 3/4 c. plain flour, sifted
2 tsp. each: baking soda, allspice, nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves
1 tsp. each: vanilla and lemon flavoring
2 c. sugar
1 c. butter
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
6 eggs, separated
1 1/2 c. nuts, chopped
1 1/2 c. raisins
2 c. blackberry jam
1 c. strawberry preserves
1 c. peach preserves or pear preserves (or 1/2 c. each)
Preparation

Cream softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
Add beaten egg yolks.
Sift flour, soda and spices together.
Rinse raisins and drain.
Combine with chopped nuts in a separate bowl.
Add approximately 1/8 cup of flour and spice mixture to nuts and raisins.
Mix well.
