Green Tomato Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    20 lb. green tomatoes
    1/2 c. salt
    2 qt. water
    6 lb. onions
    2 qt. vinegar
    8 c. sugar
    2 pkg. pickling spice
Preparation
    Slice tomatoes and soak in salt and water overnight.
    In the morning, rinse and drain.
    Slice onions and add to the tomatoes. Boil vinegar, sugar and spice for 15 minutes; add to tomatoes and onions.
    Boil for 15 minutes more.
    Pack in hot, sterilized jars and seal.
    Yields 10 pints.
