Refrigerator Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. sugar
    1/2 c. salt
    1 1/4 tsp. celery seed
    3 sliced onions
    4 c. cider vinegar
    1 1/4 tsp. turmeric
    1 1/4 tsp. mustard seed
Preparation
    Mix together sugar, vinegar, salt and spices to a cold syrup. Do not heat.
    Wash and sterilize 4 pint jars.
    Slice onions equally into jars.
    Wash and slice cucumbers to fill jars.
    Stir syrup well and pour over cucumbers and onions.
    Screw on lids. Refrigerate at least 5 days before using.
    Will keep in refrigerator at least 9 months.
