Corn Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. corn meal (self-rising)
    1 1/2 c. milk or buttermilk
    1/4 c. shortening
    1 egg
    1 to 2 Tbsp. sugar (optional)
Preparation
    Blend all ingredients, stirring until well mixed.
    Pour into 8 or 10-inch heavy skillet (well-greased).
    Bake at 425\u00b0 until golden brown.
