Southern Green Beans - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. fresh green beans
    1 1/2 to 2 qt. water
    1/4 lb. washed salt pork
    1 tsp. salt or to taste
    pinch of sugar
Preparation
    String beans and break in 1 1/2-inch pieces.
    Wash.
    Fill a 3-quart saucepan with water and add meat.
    Cook (covered) approximately 20 minutes.
    Add beans, salt and sugar.
    Cook about 45 minutes to an hour or until beans are tender and liquid is cooked down.
