Potato Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. butter
    1/4 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    dash of pepper
    2 c. milk
    4 c. cooked, cubed potatoes
    1 medium onion, chopped
Preparation
    Melt butter in saucepan over low heat.
    Blend in flour, salt and
    pepper.
    Add milk all at once.
    Cook quickly, stirring constantly,
    until mixture thickens and bubbles.
    Remove sauce from
    heat.
    (Add
    cheese
    or
    other flavorings at this point,
    if so
    desired.)
    Add
    onions
    and potatoes to sauce. Return to heat and cook until hot.
