Ingredients

2 1/4 c. chopped dates
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. water
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. shortening
2 c. brown sugar
3 eggs, beaten
4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
Preparation

Combine dates, sugar and water in saucepan and cook over low heat until thick. Add nuts and cool. Cream shortening, add sugar and well beaten eggs.
Beat well.
Add the remaining ingredients sifted together.
Chill.
