Crackle Top Ginger Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    1 egg
    2 tsp. ginger
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    2 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. molasses
    4 c. sifted flour
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar.
    Add egg and mix well.
    Stir in molasses.
    Sift together dry ingredients.
    Combine with molasses mixture.
    Chill thoroughly.
    Roll dough in small balls about 1 inch in diameter.
    Roll in granulated sugar.
    Place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet and bake at 325\u00b0 about 18 to 20 minutes. Yield:
    8 dozen.
