Orange Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    Rind of 3 Medium Oranges
    1 c. Sugar
    1 egg, beaten
    1 Tbsp. Shortening
    1 c. Milk
    3 c. Sifted Flour
    1 tsp. Salt
    3 tsp. Baking Powder
Preparation
    Cover rinds with cold water.
    Let come to a boil, and then drain.
    Repeat twice more.
    Boil until tender in the third water, and drain.
    Add rinds to 1 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water.
    Boil until syrup is thick.
    Drain the syrup into a dish.
    Cool and cut peelings into syrup, add 1 beaten egg, 1 teaspoon shortening, 1 cup milk, 3 cups of sifted flour, 1 teaspoon salt and 3 teaspoons of baking powder.
    Bake in a loaf pan, 40 minutes at 375\u00b0.
