Pineapple Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter or other shortening
    2 c. sugar
    4 eggs, separated
    3 c. sifted cake flour (I use self-rising)
    1/4 tsp. salt (omit if using self-rising)
    3 tsp. baking powder (omit if using self-rising)
    1 c. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy.
    Beat egg whites until stiff, but not dry.
    Add egg yolks 1 at a time to shortening and sugar, beating thoroughly after each one added.
    Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with milk and vanilla to creamed mixture, beating until smooth after each addition.
    Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
    Pour into pans (greased) and bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
