Gingerbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 egg
    3/4 c. molasses (green label)
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 1/4 c. flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. ginger
    1 tsp. cinnamon
Preparation
    Mix shortening, sugar and egg.
    Blend in molasses and buttermilk.
    Combine flour, soda, salt, ginger and cinnamon and add to previous mixture.
    Beat until smooth or use electric mixer. Pour into 9 x 9 x 2-inch square pan which has been greased and floured.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 for 45 to 50 minutes.
    Cut in squares. Serve warm with whipped topping, applesauce or warm lemon sauce.
