Gingerbread - cooking recipe

1 egg
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. molasses
2 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1 c. boiling water
Preparation

Heat oven to 350\u00b0.
Grease and flour a 9-inch square cake pan. Mix all ingredients with mixer at low speed; beat until well mixed.
Beat at medium speed for 3 minutes.
Pour into pan.
Bake for 55 to 60 minutes.
