Vegetable Strata - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 eggs
    2 egg whites
    2 c. low-fat milk
    1/2 tsp. dried basil
    1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper
    1 loaf French bread, cut into thin slices
    1 (16 oz.) pkg. frozen vegetable mixture
    4 oz. shredded cheese
    1 chopped onion
    1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
Preparation
    Whisk together eggs, egg whites, milk, basil and pepper.
    Dip bread slices in egg mixture and arrange, overlapping, in lightly greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish.
    Add vegetables to remaining egg mixture with cheese and onion.
    Mix well; pour over bread. Bake about 40 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    Ten minutes before finished baking, spoon on tomato sauce.
    Serves 8.
